Electrolytic grounding is a method of grounding electrical systems using electrolytic ground rods, which are copper tubes filled with electrolytic salts. These rods improve the conductivity of the surrounding soil, ensuring a low-resistance electrical path to the earth, even in dry or rocky soil conditions where standard ground rods may fail.
As soil moisture penetrates the rod, the salts dissolve slowly and leach out through the vent holes, increasing the soil’s conductivity around the rod. This enhanced conductive zone maintains low resistance grounding, even in poor soil.
